Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 6th of
September, No.F.4331/73/10, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Amery to transmit to you for the information
of Secretary Sir Austen Chamberlain, the accompanying
copy of Notes of the meeting which was held in this
Office on the 13th of January, to discuss the question
of the removal from Hong Kong of the Chinese Telegraph
Administration Office.
Mr. Amery understands that steps are being
taken by your Department to ascertain from the
Eastern Extension Telegraph Company what is the present
position in regard to their negotiations with the Chinese Government, and he proposes to await the result of this enquiry.
